Hilton Garden Inn Luton North Hotel
AN EYE TO A PODODonnell’s first venture into hotel bedroom fit-outs via off-site pod modules took place on the Hilton Hotel at Luton in conjunction with Caledonian Building Systems, who have the experience of building over a dozen 3 and 4-star hotels in this way. This modern construction concept is based on manufacturing a series of room modules or pods in a factory. The modules are made from fully welded steel frames that are fitted out as complete rooms prior to their delivery and erection on site. Once interconnected, the pods form the full structure of the hotel creating, says Caledonian, an extremely rapid, high quality build that is the equivalent in performance terms to traditional site-based construction processes.Working closely with Stuart Hobson of Caledonian and following the designs and specifications of Richard Timme of architects and interior designers, Bell Slater, ODonnell have been tasked with manufacturing, supplying and fitting headboards, bedside units, wardrobes and coffee tables in walnut veneer plus mirrors for 157 pods. The overall hotel fit-out scheduling was co-ordinated by FF&E procurement and project management specialists, Room Facilities of Reading.
